Prof Khathutshelo Nephawe

Prof Khathutshelo Nephawe obtained his PhD degree in Animal Breeding and Genetics at the University of Nebraska (Lincoln, Nebraska, USA) under the Fulbright Scholarship. He also completed the following qualifications: Masters in Business Leadership (MBL) at UNISA’s Graduate School of Business Leadership (SBL), Practical Project Management Programme at UNISA SBL, MSc in Agriculture in Animal Science at University of Free State, BSc in Agriculture (Hons) in Animal Science (Cum Laude) at University of the Free State and BSc in Agriculture at University of Limpopo.

Prof Nephawe is currently employed as a Research Professor and Head of Department (Animal Science) at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). Previously, he worked as Scientific Manager (Livestock Research) at the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD), and formerly as a Senior Researcher in Animal Breeding and Genetics at the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) of South Africa (ARC).

Prof Nephawe is rated by the National Research Foundation (NRF) as an Established Researcher. He has an outstanding postgraduate students’ supervision record of accomplishment. In terms of research outputs, he has a tremendous publication record in peer-reviewed journals locally and internationally. Moreover, he actively contributes towards both local and international scientific conferences.

Prof Nephawe have expertise and experience of serving at various Boards and/or Councils. He has served at Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP) as Board Member, South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) as Vice Chairperson of Council, Madzivhandila College of Agriculture Advisory Board, Potchefstroom College of Agriculture Advisory Board, South African Society for Animal Sciences (SASAS) council; to mention but a few.

Professionally, he is registered as a Professional Natural Scientist under the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP). Moreover, he is a member of the South African Society for Animal Sciences (SASAS).

In addition, he is an author of a captivating fictional title about a sacred African kingdom entitled, “Legends of the Lost Sacred Kingdom”, published by AuthorHouse-UK in 2014.
